19 of the Russian's 21 victories have been won on hardcourt

A resurgent Medvedev won his first trophy for over two years with a win over opponent Moutet in the competition title decider.

The athlete, a ex- number one, has experienced a challenging season, winning just a single victory at the big events and undergoing a setback at the US Open.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serve in specific - caused him falling of the top ten and ultimately parting ways with former trainer Cervara.

Now training with his coach and Goetzke, he has gradually advanced in the past month - climaxing in a closely contested three-set win over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This marks the player's first trophy after the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard surface from March of 2023.

The win also means Medvedev has achieved 21 championships at twenty-one different competitions.

"For the first time I'm at a tournament with my two daughters together, so to get a championship is really nice," said tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in dedication of my child Victoria, because the maiden victory I got when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his last six title deciders, featuring in Halle in the past months.

Medvedev's counter-punching play style and recurring emotional displays on the tennis court had led commentators to question if his capacity to play at the elite level was over.

However the athlete has made changes in recent weeks, making an effort to approach the net and compete assertively, supported by an enhanced serving game.

The champion fought back from a deficit in the first set against the tricky Moutet, taking 4 of the final five exchanges to take the lead.

The competitors exchanged service breaks in the following set before Moutet, bidding for his maiden ATP Tour championship, took control to push for a final set.

He saved four early chances in a close final set before the Russian won the break to 15 to secure the win.

Suitably, the winner clinched the title with a point at the net area, with Moutet incapable to manage a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
